Soulbonds
Hey, guess what, people?
Bet you didn't know
that, huh? Ahem. Anyway, click on the button above to see what
Soulbonding is. Or, if you get there and you don't pass the insanity
test, I'll just explain. Soulbonding is like personalities in your
minds. It's like you have the personalities of these characters (fictional
or real...most of mine are fictional tho) in your mind. Sometimes
the character will comment on what's going on in your life, the situation
that you're in, etc. (yes, this sounds like dissociative personality disorder
or some such thing...IT'S NOT!) Mine actually talk to each other, and I
can talk to them too. Heh, I bet I sound crazy now, but really, most
people who soulbond are perfectly normal people! I mean, I soulbond...well,
I'm not a very good example, but... Well actually, most people do soulbond
but they aren't aware of it, or they don't know what it is or something.
There's always a reason for soulbonding a character: either you can relate
to them, or maybe they're a certain side of your personality, or maybe
they're just a character you like a lot. You don't really do it on
purpose (I've tried that, and it doesn't work), it just sorta happens.
Sometimes they leave too, and they stop saying things anymore (that's happened
to me a few times...but then sometimes they come back). There's a
better explanation on the page, so just go there and read that if you're
still confused. I'm currently working on a short story about these
guys and how they all run around in my mind and drive each other (and me,
usually) crazy, with each of them explaining to a newcomer how they got
there and everyone watching what goes on in my life. It's really
fun to write because it's easy, 'cause I don't need to think of any dialogue,
it's already there. Anyway, this page will describe (like you even
care) my Soulbonds and what they do. Enjoy the insanity!
Squeegeeman
This guy is from the
musical Rent (as are two of my others). It isn't a major character
or anything, basically all he says is "Honest living, man!" So I
kinda created a personality for him. He's also known as Mr. Reality
Check. He's like my more realistic side, and if I'm off in La-La
Land he brings me back to earth (killjoy). An annoying guy, but useful
(like most men, isn't he?). There was a brief period a couple years
ago where I...um, evicted him I guess (from my mind, isn't that odd?),
but he came back a couple months later.
Mimi
Another character from
Rent. Geez, what is it with my obsession with that musical.
Anyway, in the musical Mimi is one of the main characters, and she has
AIDS. She's kinda like a stripper (no, that is not why I soulbonded
her), and she's in love with this guy Roger who is a musician. She's
a bit like my more romantic side (I suppose I did have one at some stage...),
and my adventurous side too. The one who, when you're deciding whether
or not to do some crazy thing (like wink at that cute girl across the room)
says, "Oh, go ahead and do it already!"
Thalia
This is one of the Greek
Muses, the Muse of comedy actually. I jst sorta created a character
for her too. She sort of turned from Aretha Franklin (it's better
if you don't ask) to Melpomene (the muse of tragedy), to a person without
a name, to Thalia. If my Soulbonds were a family, she would be the
mother, Mimi and Artemis would be sisters, Squeegieman would be the brother,
and Shakespeare would be the father (or Oscar? No, Oscar would be
the cool eccentric uncle...which I never had). She's always giving
me wise, motherly-type advice, and if I'm upset about something she's really
understanding about it (I'm talking about her like she's a real person
or something). Sometimes like a nicer version of Squeegeeman.
And, like any mother, she nags at me when I have to do things. My
own mother does this to excess, I don't need another!
Mark
The other guy from Rent...yeah,
I have three Rent SBs. Must be some kinda record. I don't like
to admit this, but he's the creative side of me. In Rent, Mark is
a filmmaker, so that's why. Other than that he doesn't do much except
for make typical "male" comments, and he and Squeeg always gang up on me.
*snif* I think that's why I got him too, because I needed another male,
although now I have quite a few more. Which is pretty cool, actually,
they (try to) help me understand the masculine perspective.
Makoto
I used to have Kino
Makoto, aka Sailorjupiter, from Sailormoon. But she kinda left, gradually.
She would comment less and less and then not at all. She came back,
briefly, as in like for a day. She's been the only anime SB I've
ever had, surprisingly. I think if I SBed another anime character
it would be Utena or Zelgadis, possibly Hino Rei.
Nuriko
Well, all my predictions
about which anime character I was going to soulbond next were wrong.
I watched episode 33 of Fushigi Yuugi a couple weeks ago and I was so sad
that the only freakin' DECENT Suzaku Seishi got killed off (except for
Chichiri, of course. And Tasuki, I like him too). So I guess
I soulbonded him so he could live on forever in my mind. ;_; This is how
the first part of my story about the SBs starts out, with me crying about
how Nuriko's dead and then, lo and behold, there he is! (and Oscar starts
flirting with him, hehe) He's gone now, though, but other characters have
come in to fill the void.
Gennie
This was a character
I made up a loooong time ago, in some short story I wrote. Gennie's
supposed to be about ten years old, but she's the closest I had to an "inner
child". She's still around, doesn't comment very much anymore though.
Fushigi
Don't let its name mislead
you, for this is...a Pokemon. A Bulbasaur, specifically. *can hear
little hypothetical people going "You soulbonded a POKEMON?"* What?
It's one of my favorite Pokemon, and it's based on my Yellow version Bulbasaur.
It talks in Bulba-speech, so it'll go "Bulba bulbasaur" and then Gennie
will translate for it (don't ask me how she does that), and say something
like "Fushigi says to stop whining, Will," or "Fushigi says to get off
the computer RIGHT NOW and play Pokemon Yellow." If she's around,
that is. So you get the idea. He's a Pokemon incarnate of Squeegieman.
Artemis
I got her, oddly enough,
when I went to Washington DC. I was queueing for the ride Apollo's
Chariot at Busch Gardens (that's the newest ride, and man, it rocks!),
and suddenly, hey, look who's here. Artemis is a goddess from the
mythology, and she's Apollo's twin, so that's why I got her at that particular
ride. She's like my adventurous side as well, and my outgoing side,
and my feminist-type side.
Oscar Wilde
Wow, this is actually
a real person. Got him after I watched the movie Wilde ('tis about
him). He's a writer, and he's a homosexual, so we have some stuff
in common and maybe that's why. He's cool. Funny too.
Now he's my creative side (along with Master Will), and Mark is just a
guy who sits around being a pig. Gets on great with Shakespeare,
who's also in here somewhere, but at first they clashed a little (and I'm
not talking about Shakespeare's outfit clashing with Oscar's green carnation)
because they both want to be my favorite writer. Why Oscar even cares,
I dunno.
Shakespeare
He and Oscar get joint
custody of the job of my muse and my favorite author. He hung around
when I went to London not really saying anything, and then I went to Stratford-upon-Avon
and I guess being in a more familiar place (yes, I know he went to London
too, but probably didn't recognize it after the fires and all) made him
comfortable enough to say something. Now he sits there and inspires
me whenever he feels like it, and occasionally quotes...well, himself.
He likes it when I go to his plays, too.
Acacia
You know who Acacia
is if you've been hanging around my various pages for long enough.
She's one of my favorite characters I've created because she's kinda like
me...well, a really extreme version of me. She has been a fanart
character, a Basket Case layout, a character in a novel, and a KiSS doll.
She's a hippie-Woodstock-1960s-type person, a vegetarian, and she's supersuper
liberal. Squeegieman calls her Earth Muffin, which she hates but
I think is cute...anyway. She appeared in San Francisco and tried
(fruitlessly) to make me stop eating meat. ^-^ She's cool though.
Cedric and Oliver
Characters from Harry
Potter, although they act very out of character when they're around.
I think Squeegieman has corrupted them. ^-^ He has that effect on some
people...anyway, they're my favorite (unestablished) HP couple, I recently
became obsessed with writing about them and making websites dedicated to
them. Yeah. I'm weird. They "appeared" back in March,
one day when I had to go up to Phoenix, and they kept me entertained on
the two-hour trip. They seem to like it here, though...at any rate,
I like them being here. It's all good.
And other random characters
who flit in and out occasionally. I've got the Unidentified Morbid
Dude, who is the source of my morbid sense of humor and I'm really not
sure if it's a male or female yet. It's begging me to make it into
a character, though. And I think Bill Maher is in here somewhere...hey,
I've been watching his show all summer, nearly every day. He's rubbed
off on me, what can I say. *shrug* The cast of Conclave comes in sometimes,
as do most of my characters at some stage or another. Hmm...notice
how the majority of these are guys, not girls? Let's see what the
official count is...seven guys, six girls, and one Nuriko. ^-^ Okay, so
it's about even, but the guys talk more. Kind of like the His Dark
Materials trilogy, where your daemons are (usually) the opposite sex of
you. Which is kind of what these guys are like, you know, how the
daemons are. They keep me company, help me figure stuff out, and
nag at me to do stuff ("Work on my story!" "No, work on OUR story!"
blah blah blah). So there you have it, this is how my mind works.
